Here's a website containing all of the above...

http://www.vanuatuatoz.com/b.html

It's a guide page to Vanuatu, with entries for bakeries, beer (including a
roundabout reference) and a lovely Bislama phrase for a bra: "basket blong
titi".

I thought the section on big nambas was interesting, and the phrase

I like this example from Wikipedia: "wan samting wea ol kantri long

ol man oli go long difren ples long wol, oli fri go wok long difren
ples, i ol man oli sharem ol difren idia tua bekeken." In English, we
call it "globalisation."

I wonder if you have heard that the inventor of the first modern
brassiere
was named Otto Titzling.

It isn't true, but I wonder if you've heard it!

Yes. There was a song in the movie "Beaches" about it. I think it's funny.

http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/beaches/ottotisling.htm

A sample:

One night at the opera he saw an Aida
who's t-ts were so big they would often impede her.
Bug-eyed he watched her fall into the pit,
done in by the weight of those terrible t-ts.

In the movie, the 2nd line is "whose bust was so big it would often..."

I think I prefer that version.

Otto Titzling, inventor and kraut,
Was nothing to get very worked up about.
His inventions were failures,
His future seemed bleak,
He fled to the opera, at least twice a week.

If it were a 'cross-your-heart' bra, then 'OXO' would have the same effect.

Most of what's in a brassiere. I'll admit I haven't as much experience
of them as most braggarts, but I've never encountered any that were the
shape of an OXO cube. Nor of the OXO tower, for that matter.

You miss the visual trick, Richard.

It's not the shape of the OXO *cube*. The *word* "OXO" is
representative, in graphical terms, of what I was talking about, namely,
viz. and to whit, a cross-your-heart bra.

(Aside to froup: is it just *me* who sees it?)

No. It is probably all of us. Including Richard. In pretending not to
see the "visual trick", Richard was simply demonstrating his sense of
humour. I find this blindingly obvious.

This may have come over a bit stronger than I intended. My wording was
meant to convey *confidence*. On re-reading, I can see how that
confidence-indicating wording could be mistaken for anger-indicating
wording. If so, sorry.
